  1. Step
    Preheat the oven to 350˚F. Grease a 9x9 or round baking pan and set aside.
  2. Step
    In a large bowl add flour, salt and baking powder. Whisk and set aside.
  3. Step
    In a large mixing bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks are formed. Scrape out egg whites into another bowl and set aside.
  4. Step
    In the same mixer bowl, add butter, sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg yolk and vanilla extract. Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Once mixed, gently fold the whipped egg whites in small batches at a time until fully incorporated. Once a batter forms, pour into the baking tray and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Once ready, let cool.

    Meanwhile, In a large bowl combine all the milk soak ingredients and set aside.
  6. Step
    In a large saucepan add all the ingredients to make the caramelized apples. Cook until golden brown and a caramel begins to form. Separate the caramel from the apples and set aside and let cool.

    Once the cake has cooled, poke holes with a fork and spoon milk soak mixture evenly throughout the cake.

    Top with caramelized apples and whipped cream. Drizzle with apple caramel, slice and serve.
