Instructions
Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix
- StepIn a bowl, mix together the cocoa, icing sugar, chocolate and cornstarch.
- StepTransfer the mixture to an airtight container. Store for up to 3 months.
Classic Hot Chocolate
- StepPour the milk into a medium saucepan set over medium heat.
- StepHeat milk until tiny bubbles begin to form around the edges (do not boil). Whisk in the hot chocolate mixture until fully incorporated and smooth.
- StepBring to a gentle simmer and cook for about 30 seconds, whisking occasionally.
- StepRemove from the heat and pour into a large mug. Top with marshmallows and serve immediately.
Spiced Hot Chocolate
- StepPour milk into a medium pot set over medium heat. Add the cinnamon stick and orange zest. Bring the mixture to just below a simmer. There should be bubbles forming around the edges (do not boil). Turn the stove to low and let simmer for 20 seconds.
- StepWhisk in the hot chocolate mixture until it is fully incorporated and smooth. Bring back to a simmer and cook for 30 seconds. Turn off the heat, remove the cinnamon stick and orange zest. Pour into two large mugs.
- StepServe with a cinnamon stick and top with marshmallows and serve.
