Cheesy Garlic Butter Beans

This easy butter bean skillet combines tender butter beans and garlic with local butter and aged cheddar from right here in Ontario for a creamy garlic cheese dish.   1. Step
    Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. ​
  2. Step
    Add the garlic and cook for 30–60 seconds, stirring frequently, until fragrant. ​
  3. Step
    Stir in the butter beans, vegetable broth, Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are heated through and the broth has reduced slightly. ​
  4. Step
    Reduce the heat to low and stir in the cheese until melted and evenly combined. ​
  5. Step
    Add the lemon juice, salt and black pepper. Stir gently to coat the beans in the creamy garlic cheese sauce. ​
  6. Step
    Remove from the heat and sprinkle with the parsley and lemon zest. ​
  7. Step
    Serve warm as a side dish or with toasted crusty bread for scooping up the sauce.​
