- StepPreheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Place butter in a 9x9-inch (23x23 cm) baking dish and transfer to the oven until fully melted. Remove from oven.
- StepIn a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Pour in milk and stir until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
- StepSpoon the dough directly into the baking dish over the melted butter. Gently spread it out evenly without mixing it into the butter.
- StepUse a knife to cut the dough into 9 squares. This helps the butter rise up between the biscuits as they bake.
- StepBake for 20–25 minutes, until the tops are golden brown and the edges are crisp.
