Shallot Tart with Shaved Dark Chocolate

Trust us on this one–you’ve got to try it! Made with local Swiss cheese, this tart brings together the bitterness of the chocolate and the sharpness of the shallots in a delicious cheesy harmony paired on top of a buttery puffed pastry.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Ontario butter
  • ½ cups shallots, peeled and halved lengthwise
  • 1 package of frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 ½ cups shredded local Swiss cheese
  • 2 tsp Thyme
  • ¼ cup Ontario cream
  • 2 tbsp egg wash
  • 2-3 tbsp shaved dark chocolate

    Preheat the oven to 400

    In a nonstick pan, add Ontario butter and very carefully caramelize shallots on one side. Once caramelized, remove from pan and set aside.
