    P5 Message – Additional 2025 Fall Incentive Days – Conventional and Organic To meet the stronger demand for fresh dairy products in the Fall, specifically yogurt and fresh cheese, the P5 Boards announce one additional incentive day to be issued on a non-cumulative basis in each of the months of August and September for conventional producers. Organic producers are issued one additional incentive day on a non-cumulative basis in September. This adjustment aims to maintain the production level forecasted for the period. The P5 provincial boards’ primary objective is to continuously monitor the milk market situation and meet demand in the most optimal way and will continue to adapt production signals to address market changes, as required. The following table below summarizes the incentive days. -------------------- Message P5 –journées additionnelles pour l’automne 2025 – conventionnel et biologique Afin de répondre à la demande plus forte à l'automne pour les produits laitiers frais, notamment le yogourt et le fromage frais, les offices de mise en marché du P5 annoncent une journée supplémentaire pour chacun des mois d'août et de septembre à tous les producteurs conventionnels. Une journée supplémentaire sera émise en septembre aux producteurs biologiques. Ces journées sont non cumulatives. Cet ajustement vise à maintenir le niveau de production prévu pour la période. Le premier objectif des offices de mise en marché des provinces de P5 est de suivre de près l'évolution des marchés et de répondre à la demande de manière optimale. Les offices de mise en marché vont continuer à s'adapter aux signaux pour réagir à tout changement des marchés, lorsque requis. Le tableau suivant résume l’émission des journées additionnelles:

  • New Entrant Quota Assistance Program

    Dairy Farmers of Ontario’s (DFO) New Entrant Quota Assistance Program is designed to assist those with an interest in dairy farming who may not otherwise have the financial means or opportunity to get started in the industry. The P5 makes available 160 kilograms of loaned quota per year for the program in Ontario.  Subject to DFO issuing a licence to produce and market milk and approving an order to issue quota, DFO will match 20 kilograms of loaned quota to each successful applicant. The DFO Board has decided the following: a. To give priority access to one (1) organic new entrant who plans on shipping organic milk continuously for a minimum of five years in one of the following counties; Glengarry, Prescott, Russell, Carleton, Dundas, Stormont, Frontenac, Grenville, Lanark, Leeds, Renfrew, Hastings, Lennox & Addington, Northumberland, Prince Edward. b. If there are no successful applications from the areas identified in (a), DFO will give priority access to one (1) organic new entrant who plans on shipping organic milk continuously for a minimum of five years in one of the following counties; Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Durham, Wellington, Waterloo, Grey, Bruce, Huron, Perth, Oxford, Middlesex, Elgin, Lambton, Wentworth. Click here for the Organic NEQAP application. The deadline to submit the 2026 Organic NEQAP application is June 30, 2025. Please note that the application period for the balance of the positions will open on July 1, 2025.   • 2023 Ontario Dairy Farm Accounting Project (ODFAP) Annual Report

    ODFAP is a co-operative project of DFO, the Canadian Dairy Commission (CDC), Agriculture Canada and the University of Guelph. ODFAP develops farm production and management data which meets the farm database requirements of the Ontario dairy industry using a sample of farms, which represent typical Ontario dairy farm situations, different levels of technology, regional differences and other significant factors.

    Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO) is the designated authority to administer and enforce the Designated Legislation, which are the provisions of the Milk Act, including provisions of Regulation 761. DFO is accountable to the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness (OMAFA), which is responsible for DFO’s fulfilment of its Statutory Mandate.
