Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO) is the marketing board for the largest sector of Ontario agriculture. About the Role
Reporting to the Program Manager, Raw Milk Quality Production, the Bulk Tank Milk Grader (BTMG) Program Specialist supports the delivery and integrity of programs associated with raw milk quality, including the BTMG Certification and Evaluation Program, Tank Truck Inspection Program, and related quality assurance and compliance activities.
This is a part-time role, responsible for conducting BTMG performance evaluations, supporting certification and refresher courses, preparing and managing milk samples for grading and training activities, and assisting with the Tank Truck Inspection (TTI) Program. The delivery of consistent examiner functions is critical to the BTMG Program across the province.
Conditions:
Work hours are scheduled in advance and will vary week to week, estimated at about 20-30 hours per week. Hours may include extended hours, and occasional weekends based on operational needs. Travel within southwestern Ontario is required along with access to a reliable vehicle and Class G licence in good standing (mileage and expenses are reimbursed)*. This role requires successful achievement of BTMG certification with demonstrated expert level milk grading ability.
*Successful candidate must reside in the Woodstock and surrounding area and be able to work from a home office.
To succeed, you will have:
- Post-secondary education in agriculture, food science, quality assurance, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience
- Experience with applying policies, procedures, and regulations in a compliance-based environment
- Experience in training delivery, facilitation, or technical instruction
- Experience conducting evaluations, audits, or inspections
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage variable schedules, travel, and competing priorities
- Ability to work independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Dairy or agricultural industry experience considered a strong asset
- Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset
Overview of the job responsibilities:
- Conduct BTMG performance evaluations across assigned regions, ensuring compliance with program standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support the planning, preparation, and delivery of BTMG certification and refresher courses.
- Prepare, manage, and maintain milk samples used for grading sessions, training courses, and evaluation activities.
- Deliver presentations and facilitate grading sessions as part of BTMG training programs.
- Assist with Tank Truck Inspection (TTI) program activities, including inspections and compliance follow-up.
- Participate in course logistics, including setup, supply coordination, and on-site operational support.
- Maintain accurate records of evaluations, inspections, training results, and related program documentation.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy in grading, evaluation, and reporting process across all assigned activities.
- Travel regularly within Ontario to support program delivery, including Western regions.
- Provide recommendations and input to support continuous improvement of BTMG procedures, training materials, and program consistency.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure effective delivery of regulatory and program requirements.

Pay Range:
