Creamy Mascarpone Chocolate Orange Trifles

Citrus and chocolate layers are perfectly combined with locally sourced mascarpone cheese, making for rich, creamy and velvety layers sandwiched between fresh orange slices and coffee-dipped lady fingers.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Step
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and milk chocolate. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth. Let cool slightly, then fold in ½ cup mascarpone until smooth and creamy.
  2. Step
Pour the cooled coffee into a shallow bowl. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee, just 1–2 seconds per side, so they are moistened but not falling apart.
  3. Step
Break the dipped ladyfingers as needed to fit into small mugs or glasses. Add a layer of orange segments, then a spoonful of plain mascarpone, then a layer of coffee-dipped ladyfingers, then a spoonful of chocolate mascarpone cream. Repeat the layers until the cups are filled.
  4. Step
Top with orange segments and a small spoonful of mascarpone. Chill for 30 minutes before serving, or serve immediately for a softer trifle.
