DELIVERING FOR OUR ECONOMY
Dairy is the largest sector of Ontario agriculture, adding $8.1 billion to the economy and 86,000 jobs in 2023. Working with local communities, we lead this dynamic industry to benefit a thriving economy.
INNOVATION PROGRAMS
Innovation is an integral part of the dairy industry’s growth and on-going contribution to the economy. We have two programs based on business stages that foster and support dairy entrepreneurs.
Start Up
The Start Up Program is for new dairy processors who would benefit from support in setting up their business and bringing their new concept to life.
Scale Up
The Scale Up Program is for existing dairy processors who are in-market introducing new products, implementing innovations or expanding processing operations.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE WITH MILK
Since 2015, Dairy Farmers of Ontario has worked with entrepreneurs, supporting over 80 dairy innovators, and helping them to launch new dairy products, projects and/or dairy companies.
In 2023, the program:
- 25 total participants, with 11 in the Start Up program and 14 in the Scale up program
- Granted thirteen awards, totaling $130,000
Since 2015, more than $720,000 in grants have been awarded to support innovation, helping aspiring entrepreneurs to develop their business concepts and products that contribute to a thriving Ontario economy.
